Founded by Eric Nguyen (CEO, Stanford PhD), Stefano Massaroli, Armin Thomas (CTO), and colleagues who pioneered the Evo biological foundation model, the lab's mission is to master the code of life for applications spanning drug discovery, biodefense, and biological design. The company emerged from stealth in June 2026 with a $50 million seed round led by Emergence Capital, backed by Andreessen Horowitz, DST, Nvidia, Accel, Elad Gil, and Jeff Dean among others. Spun out of Stanford University and based in Menlo Park, California.
