Quartzy is a marketplace and lab-management platform for life science organizations, founded in 2009 by Jayant Kulkarni and Adam Regelmann in Hayward, California, after the two met while conducting lab research at Columbia University. The platform lets scientists browse and price-compare lab supplies from a catalog of over 10 million products across 1,000+ suppliers, while also providing inventory tracking, procurement workflows, and order management that digitize the ad-hoc spreadsheets and email chains labs traditionally relied on. Quartzy is used by more than 10,000 organizations and 425,000+ scientists worldwide, spanning early-stage biotechs, public companies, and academic institutions (including a partnership with Stanford). The company's most recent disclosed funding round was a $23 million raise backed by Avenue Capital Group and BroadOak Capital Partners, earmarked for expanding its software platform, supplier network, and go-to-market strategy.
