Quantune

Quantune Technologies GmbH is a Berlin-based deep-tech startup commercializing the world's first chip-sized Quantum Cascade Laser (QCL) spectrometer for molecular sensing and non-invasive health monitoring. Founded in 2019 and spun out of 20 years of laser physics research, Quantune's core technology miniaturizes mid-infrared spectroscopy — traditionally a laboratory instrument — into a sensor small enough to integrate into wearables and consumer devices. The sensor can detect and quantify specific molecules in breath, skin, or blood at concentrations as low as 10 parts per million, enabling continuous, non-invasive measurement of metabolites such as glucose or ketones without needles or sample collection. The company has progressed through five generations of demonstrators, began ex-vivo clinical trials in 2025, and started in-vivo clinical trials in 2026. Quantune has received funding from Point72 Ventures and Vsquared Ventures in its Seed round, a pre-seed from Vsquared Ventures and Vigo Ventures, and non-dilutive grants including an EIC Pathfinder (Horizon Europe) grant and ProFIT grants from the Investment Bank Berlin. The company targets biomedical and industrial sensing markets, positioning the QCL spectrometer as a foundational sensing layer for the next generation of health monitoring devices.
