About
Q.ANT is a deep-tech scale-up developing photonic processing solutions that compute natively with light, delivering a scalable and energy-efficient alternative to transistor-based systems. Founded in 2018 by Michael Förtsch and headquartered in Stuttgart, Germany, the company is a TRUMPF spin-off that operates its own pilot line for photonic chips based on Thin-Film Lithium Niobate (TFLN) in collaboration with the Institute for Microelectronics Stuttgart (IMS CHIPS). Its photonic co-processors are optimized for AI and high-performance computing workloads, achieving up to 30× greater energy efficiency versus conventional silicon chips. In July 2025, Q.ANT raised €62 million in Europe's largest Series A for photonic computing.
