Building stellarators to power the future
Proxima Fusion is a Munich-based fusion energy company and the first spin-out from the Max Planck Institute for Plasma Physics. It is building the first generation of commercial fusion power plants using quasi-isodynamic (QI) stellarators, leveraging research from the record-breaking Wendelstein 7-X stellarator. Its Stellaris power plant concept, published in 2025, is designed for continuous grid-ready operation.
