The platform made publishing radically simple — users could create and update blogs by sending an email with text, photos, videos, or other attachments, without ever logging into a website. Posterous supported automatic cross-posting to Twitter, Facebook, Flickr, and other social platforms, and was widely used for mobile blogging and lifestreaming. It was acquired by Twitter in March 2012 and shut down on April 30, 2013.
