Photoncycle

Photoncycle is a Norwegian climate tech company developing patented solid-state hydrogen storage technology that lets homeowners capture surplus summer solar energy and use it to heat and power their homes through winter. Its system has a storage capacity of up to 10,000 kWh, roughly 700 times that of a standard home battery, bridging the seasonal gap between solar production and winter energy demand. Founded by Bjørn Brandtzæg, who previously raised more than $1.3 billion for large-scale energy infrastructure projects and incubated the idea at MIT in 2020, Photoncycle operates a hydrogen lab in Oslo and is preparing large-scale manufacturing for 2027.
