About
Perpetual Protocol is a decentralized exchange (DEX) specializing in perpetual futures contracts, built on Ethereum and Optimism Layer 2. Founded in 2019 in Taiwan by co-founders Yenwen Feng and Shao-Kang Lee, the protocol launched in December 2020 and became one of the leading on-chain perpetuals venues. It uses a virtual automated market maker (vAMM) model enabling traders to take leveraged positions on cryptocurrency pairs without traditional intermediaries, collateralized in USDC. Version 2 (Curie) introduced concentrated liquidity for derivatives. The protocol's native governance token is PERP. Note: perp.exchange wound down v2 operations in early 2025; users were advised to withdraw by January 2025.
