The rails for lending in Nigeria.
Pennee Technologies is a Nigerian fintech company that began as a direct lender to small and micro businesses before pivoting in 2024 to become a full-stack lending infrastructure provider. Founded in 2021 by Gideon Adeyemi, Emmanuella Mejero, and Abolade Eniseyin, Pennee originally disbursed over $2.6 million to more than 50,000 small businesses in Nigeria. After building internal AI-powered tools to solve collections and verification challenges, the company pivoted to selling that infrastructure to financial institutions. Today Pennee offers origination, KYC/KYB verification, and AI-driven collections tools to banks, microfinance institutions, and digital lenders, while also giving borrowers a credit health monitoring interface. Its AI collections system maps all bank accounts linked to a borrower's BVN and executes staggered repayments across accounts, reducing non-performing loans from 2.66% to 1.23%. The company has secured over $450,000 in funding and is headquartered in Lagos, Nigeria, with plans to expand across Africa.
