Parthian Energy is a cleantech company dedicated to advancing and commercializing novel battery technologies developed by its founders at Caltech. The company is developing a new class of advanced electromagnetic battery measurement technologies that, for the first time, enable visualization of anomalies in electrical current distribution inside batteries. This patented diagnostic platform helps detect latent manufacturing defects before voltage or temperature abnormalities can be detected, addressing a critical safety and quality control gap for EV and energy storage manufacturers. In 2021, EV cell manufacturers lost over $2 billion due to undetected cell defects. Parthian's technology, developed through DOE SBIR Phase I and Phase II awards in collaboration with NREL and LG, enables ultrafast EV charging and lower-cost renewable energy storage while significantly reducing the probability of battery fires and costly recalls. The company is a spinoff from Caltech and a portfolio company of Third Derivative, the climate tech accelerator.
