About

Paribus was founded in 2014 by Eric Glyman and Karim Atiyeh in Brooklyn, New York. The service connected to users' email accounts to scan for e-commerce receipts and automatically submitted price-adjustment claims when a purchased item dropped in price. At launch the platform supported 18 major retailers including Amazon, Best Buy, and Walmart, growing to 29 by 2017. Paribus participated in Y Combinator and raised a $2.1 million seed round in October 2015 led by General Catalyst Partners. The company was acquired by Capital One in October 2016 and integrated into Capital One Shopping. Capital One discontinued the price protection feature in January 2023.
