Neurona Therapeutics is a clinical-stage biotherapeutics company in San Francisco developing regenerative neural cell therapies for nervous-system disorders, founded in 2008 by UCSF neuroscientists and stem-cell researchers, with co-founder Cory Nicholas as CEO. Lead candidate NRTX-1001, a single-dose allogeneic inhibitory-interneuron cell therapy, reported positive Phase 1/2 data in drug-resistant mesial temporal lobe epilepsy and is advancing to the pivotal Phase 3 EPIC trial intended to support a BLA, with an $8 million CIRM grant supporting the Phase 1/2 program. The company raised $120 million in February 2024 and an oversubscribed $102 million in April 2025 from investors including Fidelity, The Column Group, Viking Global, and UCB Ventures. In April 2026 UCB agreed to acquire Neurona for $650 million upfront plus up to $500 million in milestones; the deal closed in June 2026.
