Necto

Necto was a San Francisco-based startup, backed by Y Combinator's Winter 2018 batch, that offered an "ISP starter kit" enabling local entrepreneurs to launch their own neighborhood internet service providers. Rather than operating as a traditional ISP itself, Necto provided the network engineering, monitoring, and business-operations software that let independent operators run fixed-wireless broadband service in underserved San Francisco neighborhoods such as Bayview, Portola, and Visitacion Valley, while Necto handled backend infrastructure and operators handled local customer acquisition and pricing. The company was founded in 2017 by Benjamin Huang and Adam Montgomery. On March 21-22, 2019, Necto was acquired by fellow San Francisco ISP Monkeybrains, which announced that existing Necto customers' service would continue uninterrupted as their equipment was transitioned onto Monkeybrains' network.
