NE Scientific develops state-of-the-art software for simulating the physics taking place during ablations, aiming to make percutaneous ablation the best form of cancer treatment by simplifying the procedure for physicians and improving outcomes for patients. Because current practice lacks highly technical planning and guidance tools, physicians leave behind untreated portions of the tumor in 10% to 30% of cases, leading to tumor recurrence; NE Scientific's guidance software shows on screen which tissues have been ablated and which still require treatment. The company's work has been recognized and sponsored by the National Cancer Institute, which has awarded it more than $1.8 million in SBIR grants, and in 2019 it won the Johnson & Johnson "Lung Cancer Innovation QuickFire Challenge," a $250K prize with a year of free access to JLABS @ Shanghai.
