Melody International

Melody International Ltd. is a Japanese medical device company that developed iCTG, the world's smallest wireless fetal monitoring system, for use in both clinical and remote prenatal care settings. The iCTG device consists of two lightweight wireless transducers (fetal heart rate and uterine contraction monitors) that connect via Bluetooth to a tablet or smartphone, transmitting real-time cardiotocography (CTG) data to physicians over Wi-Fi, 3G, or LTE from any location. The system is based on the real-time autocorrelation method pioneered by Professors Hara and Takeuchi in 1974, the same technology underlying virtually all clinical fetal monitors worldwide. iCTG has received regulatory approval from Japan's PMDA and is deployed in hundreds of hospitals in Japan, as well as in Thailand, Bhutan (throughout the entire kingdom with UNDP/JICA support), Brazil, and other low- and middle-income countries. Melody International targets ob-gyn departments, rural primary care hospitals, and telemedicine programs seeking to reduce maternal and neonatal mortality through accessible fetal surveillance.
