mediVR

mediVR is an Osaka University spin-out founded in June 2016 by cardiologist Masahiko Hara, specializing in VR-based medical rehabilitation devices. The company's flagship product, mediVR KAGURA, is an immersive virtual reality rehabilitation system classified as a Class I medical device in Japan and a Class II device in the United States by the FDA. KAGURA has been used to treat patients recovering from stroke, cerebral infarction, and other conditions affecting motor function, accumulating over 340,000 treatment sessions by early 2026. mediVR operates rehabilitation centers in Osaka, Fukuoka, and Tokyo, and has active research collaborations with the University of Texas at Austin and UCLA.
