
Macromedia was a San Francisco-based software company founded in 1992 through the merger of Authorware and MacroMind-Paracomp. It produced landmark products including Flash, Dreamweaver, ColdFusion, and Director that defined web and multimedia development in the 1990s and early 2000s. Adobe Systems acquired Macromedia in 2005 for approximately $3.4 billion.
