Observe, understand, and resolve issues across distributed systems.
LightStep was an observability platform founded in 2015 by former Google engineers to help organizations monitor and debug distributed, cloud-native applications at scale. The platform provided distributed tracing, metrics, and log correlation through a unified interface, enabling engineering teams to identify performance regressions across microservices deployments and resolve production incidents faster. LightStep was a founding contributor to the OpenTelemetry open-source standard and built deep integrations with Kubernetes, Prometheus, and major cloud providers. The company was acquired by ServiceNow in June 2021 for approximately $510 million and was subsequently rebranded as ServiceNow Cloud Observability in August 2023.
