Koko

Koko is a tech nonprofit founded at the MIT Media Lab that provides free, evidence-based mental health support to young people directly on the digital platforms they already use. Co-founded by Rob Morris, PhD and Kareem Kouddous, Koko's peer-to-peer model empowers users to help one another, a mechanism backed by clinical research showing that giving support reduces the supporter's own depression symptoms. Koko has partnered with major platforms including Tumblr and Pinterest and has reached nearly two million people. The organization integrates AI moderation (Kokobot) to scale interventions and identify users in crisis.
