Closed-loop, AI-guided enzyme engineering
Imperagen is a Manchester-based techbio company founded in November 2021 by researchers from the University of Manchester's Institute of Biotechnology. Its closed-loop platform combines quantum physics-based AI simulation with high-throughput automated lab testing to engineer improved enzymes faster and at lower cost. The company closed a £5 million seed round in May 2026.
