Illumi Medical

Illumi Medical Inc. is a Nagoya University-based medical device startup developing intravascular light irradiation systems that deliver phototherapy to deep-seated lesions inside the body. The company's flagship technology, ET-BLIT, uses an ultra-compact laser source positioned on a catheter tip — co-developed with Nichia — that can be inserted via standard catheter-laboratory procedures to irradiate organs such as the liver and kidneys with high-energy laser light, enabling photoimmunotherapy and photodynamic therapy for cancers and other conditions that are inaccessible to conventional surface or endoscope-based phototherapy. Established in February 2023 in Nagoya, Aichi, the company raised ¥410 million in a Series A round in 2025 and is pursuing future applications in photobiomodulation, neuromodulation, and regenerative medicine.
