About

Hyperloop One (later rebranded as Virgin Hyperloop) was an American transportation technology company working to commercialize high-speed travel through low-pressure tubes using magnetic levitation. Founded in 2014 in Los Angeles by Shervin Pishevar, Brogan BamBrogan, and Josh Giegel, the company raised hundreds of millions of dollars and conducted successful proof-of-concept tests at its DevLoop facility in Nevada. It received backing from DP World and Virgin Group. After pivoting to freight-only in 2022 and losing the Virgin branding, the company failed to win any commercial contracts and ceased operations on December 31, 2023.
