Humanoid was a human brainpower API that let developers route small, well-defined tasks to a distributed, quality-controlled human workforce rather than relying purely on automated processing. Founded by Matt Mireles, it grew out of his video-transcription startup SpeakerText, which struggled to get consistent quality from anonymous crowdsourcing platforms like Amazon Mechanical Turk. Humanoid used statistical models to monitor worker accuracy and fatigue, rerouting tasks from underperforming workers, and was backed by Google Ventures.
