Herman Miller

Herman Miller, now operating as MillerKnoll, Incorporated, is an American company that produces office furniture, equipment, and home furnishings. Founded in 1905 as the Star Furniture Co. in Zeeland, Michigan, the company became a pioneer of modernist furniture design under the direction of Gilbert Rohde and later George Nelson, who brought in iconic designers including Charles and Ray Eames and Isamu Noguchi. Herman Miller's best-known designs include the Aeron chair, the Eames Lounge Chair and Ottoman, the Noguchi table, and the Marshmallow sofa. The company is also credited with inventing the office cubicle in 1968 through its Action Office line developed by researcher Robert Propst. In 2021, Herman Miller acquired Knoll in a .8 billion deal and rebranded the combined company as MillerKnoll. The company posted revenue of .63 billion in fiscal year 2024 and employs approximately 10,200 people.
