Guama is a Colombian fintech that offers a digital-first credit card designed for individuals with no credit history, using open banking and AI to evaluate creditworthiness without traditional credit bureau data. Founded by three former Nubank employees — María Paula Pinzón, Alfredo Prieto, and Víctor Julio — the company launched in early 2024 and has grown to more than 20,000 active cardholders, with 60% of users accessing credit for the first time. The Guama Clásica provides a virtual VISA card with a three-step signup (identity verification, bank account linking, instant card issuance) and app-based controls for real-time transaction monitoring, payment management, and credit limit adjustments. The platform reports payment activity monthly to Colombian credit bureaus, enabling users to build a verifiable financial profile over time. Additional features include Google Pay and Apple Pay integration, interest-free single-installment purchases, and a Guama Pro loyalty program that rewards on-time payers with credit limit increases. The company raised a $1.5M seed round in 2025 led by Salkantay Ventures, with participation from Story Ventures, Hustle Fund, and Techstars.
