About
Global Thermostat was a US-based direct air capture (DAC) technology company founded in 2010 by economist Graciela Chichilnisky and physicist Peter Eisenberger at Columbia University. The company developed multi-patented technology to capture carbon dioxide directly from the atmosphere using a proprietary sorbent process, and operated a pilot unit in the Denver, Colorado area. In May 2024, Global Thermostat was acquired by Zero Carbon Systems, which continues to commercialize the direct air capture technology.
