Generare

Generare is a Paris-based techbio company building the world's largest proprietary library of evolution-derived small molecules for drug discovery. Founded in 2023 by CEO Guillaume Vandenesch and CSO Dr. Vincent Libis, Generare's platform decodes microbial genomes to access approximately 97% of nature's chemistry that has never been explored by the pharmaceutical industry. Using proprietary high-throughput cloning and sequencing technology — validated through ERC-funded academic research and peer-reviewed publications — the company screens tens of thousands of microbial genomes, identifies gene sequences most likely to produce bioactive compounds, expresses them, and characterises the resulting molecules for structure, biological activity, and drug potential. Each new compound discovered adds to a growing dataset that becomes more valuable with each cycle. This compounding dataset is positioned as essential infrastructure for AI-driven drug discovery, supplying pharmaceutical partners with genuinely novel starting points that synthetic chemistry libraries cannot provide. In 2025, Generare identified over 200 new molecules — more than all other players in the field combined. The company raised EUR 20 million in Series A funding in April 2026 and employs approximately 25 experts.
