Grow food anywhere, in any climate
Freight Farms was a Boston-based agtech company and the first manufacturer of container farms — hydroponic farming systems built inside upcycled shipping containers. Its flagship product, the Greenery, provided a controlled-environment, vertical hydroponic farm capable of commercial-scale crop production year-round in any climate. The Farmhand software platform offered IoT-based remote farm management, data analytics, and automated growing recipes. At peak, Freight Farms operated a network of 800+ farms across 42 countries. The company filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy in April 2025 and its assets were acquired by Canadian agritech company Growcer in July 2025.
