Fracta

Founded in 2015 in Silicon Valley, Fracta is an AI-powered water infrastructure management company that uses machine learning to assess the condition of underground pipelines and predict failure likelihood. The platform transforms complex pipeline data—including soil conditions, pipe material, age, and historical break records—into actionable risk insights that help water utilities prioritize maintenance, optimize capital budgets, and extend the life of aging infrastructure. Fracta's technology has been used to analyze thousands of miles of pipeline across dozens of U.S. water utilities, and in 2019 the company expanded into Japan through a joint venture with strategic investor Kurita Water Industries. In 2023, Fracta became a wholly owned subsidiary of Kurita Water Industries, Ltd. The company also offers the industry's first AI-powered gas pipe deterioration prediction algorithm, launched in 2021, and received the 2022 AWWA Innovation Award for its contributions to infrastructure safety.
