The ePlane Company is a Chennai-based urban air mobility startup developing compact, all-electric eVTOL aircraft designed to turn city commutes into short point-to-point flights of roughly ten minutes, targeting air-taxi and air-ambulance operators. Its aircraft use a patented Synergistic Lift design intended to improve efficiency and safety over conventional eVTOL configurations, and the company became the first private Indian firm to receive Design Organisation Approval (DoA) from India's DGCA for an electric aircraft. Founded in 2019 out of IIT Madras Research Park, ePlane has raised funding from investors including Speciale Invest and Antares Ventures.
