Enveritas

Enveritas is a New York-based 501(c)(3) non-profit organization providing sustainability assurance for the coffee and cocoa industries. Founded in 2016 and backed by Y Combinator (S18), Enveritas deploys field researchers to visit more than 100,000 smallholder farms annually across 31+ countries in Asia, Africa, and Latin America, assessing social, economic, and environmental practices. Its model shifts the cost of certification from farmers to coffee roasters and chocolate companies, enabling smallholder farmers who would otherwise be excluded to participate in sustainability-based export markets. The organization uses AI, satellite imagery, geospatial analysis, and real-time data analytics to verify sustainable sourcing practices and issue responsible sourcing claims to qualifying companies.
