The app uses proprietary deep-learning speech recognition technology to listen to users speak English, identify pronunciation errors at an individual sound level, and provide instant feedback on intonation, rhythm, and pitch. Founded in 2015 by Stanford alumna Vu Van and speech technologist Dr. Xavier Anguera, ELSA serves both individual learners and enterprise clients across aviation, hospitality, logistics, and other industries.
