DigiCert is a privately held digital security company founded in 2003 by Ken Bretschneider, headquartered in Lehi, Utah. The company is a leading global certificate authority (CA) and provider of public key infrastructure (PKI) solutions, securing over 28 billion web connections daily and serving more than 80% of the Fortune 500 across 180+ countries. DigiCert became a founding member of the CA/Browser Forum in 2005, and in 2007 partnered with Microsoft to develop the industry's first multi-domain (SAN) certificate. The company was acquired by private equity firm Thoma Bravo in August 2015, and has since been backed by Thoma Bravo and Clearlake Capital, growing through acquisitions including Symantec's website security and PKI business and QuoVadis. DigiCert's product portfolio spans TLS/SSL certificate management through CertCentral, DigiCert ONE (a container-based, cloud-agnostic PKI platform for on-premises, cloud, and hybrid deployment), Trust Lifecycle Manager for authentication and encryption across devices, users, and servers, IoT security products including Device Trust Manager and IoT Trust Manager for manufacturers securing connected devices, document signing solutions providing cryptographically verified digital signatures tied to vetted identities, and DNS Trust Manager, a scalable managed DNS offering. In October 2022, DigiCert named Dr. Amit Sinha as CEO. The company has continued to expand its unified digital trust platform combining PKI and DNS management, and reported annual revenue approaching $1 billion in recurring revenue by early 2025, with a workforce of roughly 1,900 employees globally.
