Next generation battery recycling
cylib is a next-generation battery recycling company founded in 2022 and based in Aachen, Germany. Born out of nearly a decade of research at RWTH Aachen University, cylib has developed a proprietary hydrometallurgical recycling process that recovers critical raw materials from end-of-life lithium-ion batteries. The company is building an industrial-scale recycling facility in Aachen targeting a 2026 launch, with the goal of strengthening Europe's battery supply chain and reducing dependence on imported critical minerals. cylib was co-founded by Dr. Lilian Schwich and Dr. Gideon Schwich and has grown to over 70 employees, backed by investors including Bosch, Porsche, and World Fund.
