Clubhouse is an audio-based social networking app developed by Alpha Exploration Co., founded in 2020 by Paul Davison and Rohan Seth. The app allows users to join live, real-time audio rooms to talk, listen, and engage in conversations across topics ranging from business and technology to entertainment and culture. Originally invite-only and iOS-exclusive, Clubhouse expanded to Android in 2021 and grew rapidly during COVID-19 lockdowns. At its peak it had tens of millions of users and a valuation exceeding $4 billion. The platform enables creators to host rooms, build clubs, and grow audiences through voice-first interaction.
