CiBiEM

CiBiEM (formerly CIBIEM, Inc.) was a medical device company that developed minimally invasive, catheter-based transvenous therapies targeting Carotid Body Modulation (CBM) for the treatment of sympathetic nervous system-mediated diseases, including hypertension, heart failure, diabetes, and renal failure. The company was co-founded by Mark Gelfand and Howard R. Levin, M.D. — the team behind Coridea — and developed a novel patient pre-screening method to identify individuals likely to respond to CBM therapy. CIBIEM was backed by Third Rock Ventures, SV Health Investors, and BioStar Ventures, and filed 13 patents before ceasing operations.
