Children's National Hospital

Children's National Hospital is the Washington, D.C. region's only freestanding children's hospital, established in 1870 and consistently ranked among the top 10 pediatric hospitals in the United States by U.S. News & World Report. The hospital provides comprehensive pediatric care across primary, specialty, and emergency services to more than 250,000 children each year at its main campus and additional locations throughout Maryland, Virginia, and D.C. Children's National is also a major research institution — home to the Children's National Research Institute and the Sheikh Zayed Institute for Pediatric Surgical Innovation — receiving over 70% of its research funding from federal agencies, including 60% from the NIH.
