Changing Biotech is a Chinese food technology company that ferments proteins from microbes to produce high-protein, high-fiber, low-fat, zero-carb ingredients for dairy and food alternatives. The company's first product is a single-cell protein derived from a fungi strain approved in China as an edible microorganism, produced at a five-ton fermentation facility, with applications including milk, yogurt, chocolate, cookies, and snack puffs. Founded by bio-industry entrepreneur Bin Luo, the company raised a $22M Series A in 2022 led by Bits x Bites, with participation from Eight Roads Ventures, Sherpa Healthcare Partners, and Hillhouse.
