Cellusion

Cellusion Inc. is a Tokyo-based regenerative medicine startup founded in January 2015 as a spin-out from the Department of Ophthalmology at Keio University School of Medicine, with the mission of solving the global shortage of corneal transplant donors. The company's lead therapeutic candidate, CLS001, is an iPS cell-derived corneal endothelial cell substitute targeting bullous keratopathy — the leading indication for corneal transplants worldwide — and has received U.S. FDA Orphan Drug Designation. Backed by over 2.83 billion yen ($21M USD) in Series C financing, Cellusion is advancing company-sponsored Phase 1/2 clinical trials in Japan and internationally, aiming to make corneal regenerative therapy accessible to the estimated 13 million patients globally who cannot access a donor transplant.
