CardMunch was a San Francisco-based mobile app startup that automatically transcribed business cards using crowdsourced human transcription, then connected users to the card holder's LinkedIn profile. The app won SuccessCon-Test at FailCon in 2010. CardMunch was acquired by LinkedIn in January 2011 for approximately $2.4 million. LinkedIn relaunched the app in November 2011 with deep LinkedIn integration, growing daily card scans tenfold. LinkedIn shut down CardMunch in May 2014, migrating users to Evernote.
