Airtable is a San Francisco-based no-code/low-code platform that blends the flexibility of a spreadsheet with the structure of a relational database, letting teams build custom applications, track workflows, and automate business processes without writing code. It was founded in 2012 by Howie Liu, Andrew Ofstad, and Emmett Nicholas, who spent roughly two years building the product before raising their first institutional capital and launching publicly. The company grew through a $3M seed round (Feb 2015), a $7.6M Series A (Jun 2015), a $52M Series B (Mar 2018), a $100M Series C at a $1.1B valuation (Nov 2018), a $185M Series D at a $2.585B valuation (Sep 2020), a $270M Series E at a $5.77B valuation (Mar 2021), and a $735M Series F in December 2021 that valued the company at roughly $11.7B, its peak -- for total venture funding of about $1.35 billion from investors including Benchmark, Thrive Capital, CRV, Coatue, Caffeinated Capital, Greenoaks, XN, Salesforce Ventures, and Michael Dell's MSD Capital. Airtable runs a freemium B2B SaaS business model, selling subscription tiers from individual users up through large enterprise deployments, and by mid-2026 served more than 500,000 organizations, including roughly 80% of the Fortune 100. In January 2026 the company launched Superagent, a standalone multi-agent AI research platform (built on its October 2025 acquisition of the AI research startup DeepSky) that deploys coordinated teams of specialist AI agents to produce interactive, cited research deliverables -- its first new standalone product in 13 years -- and around the same time hired David Azose, formerly of OpenAI's ChatGPT business products team, as CTO. As of June 2026 Airtable reported annual recurring revenue of approximately $480 million, growing more than 20% year-over-year with roughly 90% gross margins. After peaking near an $11.7 billion valuation in 2021, Airtable's valuation fell sharply amid the broader SaaS/AI market reset, trading around $4 billion on secondary markets by early 2026. On August 4, 2026, Bending Spoons agreed to acquire Airtable for $1.285 billion in cash -- Bending Spoons' first acquisition since its IPO -- a deal that had not yet closed as of this writing and values the company well below its 2021 peak, though above its net-cash-adjusted valuation of roughly $2.25 billion.
