CarbonX develops carbon-based active anode materials engineered to replace graphite in batteries and improve performance, sustainability, and circularity. Founded in 2014 as a spin-off from Delft University of Technology, the company produces a unique structured carbon material whose proprietary feedstock technology integrates into existing carbon black manufacturing plants worldwide. CarbonX aims to match the cost of traditional graphite while enhancing electron and lithium-ion transfer and reducing environmental impact, helping battery makers localize supply chains and counter graphite shortages.
