About
CaoPack is a materials startup that converts food-industry byproducts such as cocoa husks, nut shells, and beer bagasse into 100 percent natural biomaterials. The sheets can be used like paper or fabric for primary packaging and are biodegradable, compostable, soluble in water, and even edible. Founder Alejandra Cuba, a food engineer, created the company to offer alternatives to plastic and conventional paper while giving value to waste that would otherwise go to landfill. The packaging has been tested with food and soap companies.
