Buyofuel is India's first B2B online marketplace for buying and selling biofuels and biomass raw materials, founded in 2020 by Kishan Karunakaran and Sumanth Kumar Selvarasu and headquartered in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu. The platform connects verified biomass sellers — agricultural residues such as wheat straw, sugarcane bagasse, corn stover, and crop residues — to industrial buyers including major corporations such as ITC, TVS Group, UltraTech Cement, and JSW Steel. Buyofuel facilitates over 10,000 tonnes of biomass traded every month and provides end-to-end supply chain infrastructure including traceability, transparent pricing, quality verification, and delivery tracking. The company operates at the intersection of renewable energy and agricultural technology, addressing both the food-versus-fuel debate and India's clean energy transition goals under the National Biofuel Policy. Buyofuel serves industries including heavy transport, compressed biogas (CBG) production, and biorefineries. The company has been recognized with the XB Group Pioneer Award at Startup Singam Season 2 for building a market category that did not previously exist, and is backed by Inflection Point Ventures.
