Brelyon (BRELYON Inc.) is an MIT Media Lab spin-off headquartered in San Mateo, California, founded in 2019 by Dr. Barmak Heshmat and co-founder Alok Mehta. The company pioneered a headset-free category of immersive display experiences, combining novel light-field optics with computational depth-modulation techniques to create true spatial depth and a panoramic field of view within a standard 32-inch monitor form factor. Its flagship Ultra Reality product line delivers a cinema-scale virtual display — equivalent to a 120-inch screen — without glasses or headsets. Applications span gaming and esports, enterprise visualization, defense simulation (Lockheed Martin partnership), medical imaging, and automotive in-cabin displays. Brelyon raised $15 million in a Series A round in 2022 and has been recognized as a TIME Best Invention of 2024. The company has a second office in Taichung, Taiwan, and a global partner network spanning North America, Europe, the Middle East, and Asia.
