Braizon

Braizon Therapeutics, Inc. is a Japanese biopharmaceutical company founded in 2015 and headquartered in Tokyo, originating from research at the University of Tokyo and Tokyo Medical & Dental University. The company is developing a proprietary drug delivery system (DDS) platform — called the Brain Access platform — that solves the blood-brain barrier (BBB) problem for oligonucleotide and other therapeutics, eliminating the need for invasive spinal cord injections to treat neurological disorders. The platform uses glucose-decorated polymer nanoparticles that piggyback on glucose transporters to cross the BBB and deliver drugs directly into the central nervous system. This approach supports multiple drug modalities including small molecules, antisense oligonucleotides, peptides, and antibodies. Braizon's pipeline targets CNS disorders and neurodegenerative diseases, with a partnering and out-licensing model for clinical development. The company has US operations in Cambridge, Massachusetts at LabCentral, and raised a Series B round of approximately $5.8M (¥645M) in August 2018 from Fast Track Initiative and other investors.
