About

Brace (brace.io) was a Y Combinator-backed developer tool, originally launched as Backlift, that let front-end developers build and host complete websites without managing back-end infrastructure. It synced site files through Dropbox, offered separate draft and production versions for iteration and collaboration, and integrated forms, data, and charts into static sites. Founded by solo founder Cole Krumbholz, Brace was acquired by Squarespace in an acqui-hire in November 2014 and the service was shut down in January 2015.
