Blip.tv was a video hosting and distribution platform founded in May 2005 specifically for independent web series creators. Unlike YouTube, Blip focused on episodic, serialized content and gave producers a full suite of tools to host, distribute, and monetize their web shows across the web. At its peak the platform served over 1 billion views per quarter. Blip raised multiple venture rounds and was acquired by Maker Studios in 2013, which subsequently shut down the platform in August 2015.
