Biochar Industrial Group (BIG)

Biochar Industrial Group (BIG) is a climate infrastructure company that partners with agricultural processors to convert biomass waste into biochar, carbon removal credits, and revenue. Operating a Biochar-as-a-Service model, BIG finances, installs, and operates industrial pyrolyzers at partner sites at no upfront cost, then splits carbon credit revenue with feedstock suppliers. The company targets processors generating 1,000+ tonnes per year of palm kernel shells, cashew husks, or sawdust. BIG uses continuous-feed industrial pyrolyzers operating at 450–600°C to produce stable biochar certified under the European Biochar Certificate (EBC) and Rainbow methodology. BIG operates Nigeria's first industrial biochar plant, continuously processing palm kernel shells since December 2024. The company is incorporated in the USA and focuses on West African agricultural supply chains, helping agribusinesses monetize waste streams while generating verified carbon credits sold to international buyers.
