Bench is North America's largest online bookkeeping service for small businesses, combining intuitive software with dedicated human bookkeepers. Founded in 2012 in Vancouver, British Columbia, Bench pairs every client with a specialized team of bookkeepers who handle monthly financial statements, expense tracking, and tax preparation. The platform integrates with major business tools including Shopify, Square, and Gusto. After abruptly shutting down in December 2024, Bench was acquired by Employer.com and resumed operations in January 2025, continuing to serve over 35,000 small business owners across the United States.
